Software maker PTC Inc. agreed to buy closely held German peer Intland Software for about $280 million.

The Boston maker of software for engineering and manufacturing applications said it plans to fund the purchase with cash on hand and its existing credit facility. PTC said it expects the acquisition of Intland to close in the fiscal third quarter ending June 30, pending closing conditions.

Intland, based in Stuttgart, makes application life-cycle software, which helps enterprises manage projects, and has customers in automotive, aerospace-and-defense, life-sciences and consumer-electronics industries, PTC said. PTC said the acquisition will expand its footprint in life-cycle software in safety-critical and regulated industries.
